The Field Engineer is an integral part of the Magnet+ team. They are responsible for ensuring that all installation/service calls are completed to company guidelines and that quality is kept to highest standards. They are also responsible for carrying out network audits to ensure any potential faults are addressed asap to avoid loss to service. They will have good networking and collaboration skills to ensure open channels of communication between the Network Operations Centre (NOC) and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Attending customer site surveys and agree design, measures, and traffic management with contractors / end customers.
Provide field assistance to Magnet+ sales team and planning for new orders or potential new leads.
Work closely with the Network Development Team, providing remote hands support where required.
Signoff of as-built documentation.
Issue regular updates to Service Delivery Team regarding ongoing orders and flag any risks to planned completion dates.
Carry out Preventative maintenance inspections on external plant as required
Issue regular updates to relevant teams regarding ongoing faults and flag any risks to resolution dates.
Liaise with End Customer/Building Management/Landlords/Park Owners in terms of organizing any documentation requested, assisting with queries in terms of design/proposed work.
Liaise with 3rd Party Telco’s regarding works on Magnet+ Network, assisting with design queries and supervising works.
Ensuring contractors are fully compliant with all their duties in relation to Health & Safety.
Installation of equipment and testing a range of technology types (ADSL, VDSL, VoIP, FTTX, Wireless).
Onsite support for our service delivery team for all installations covering a range of technology types (ADSL, VDSL, VoIP, FTTX).
Onsite support for our customer support and Network Operations Centre (NOC) teams for all service calls covering a range of technology types.
Liaising with our Network Development and NOC departments to ensure on time completion of projects, planned works and scheduled maintenance.
Onsite support for our NOC and network development team for faults in exchanges/data centres/comms rooms.
Whilst the role is Leinster based there will be requirements for regional cover for field engineering work.
Qualifications/Experience:
The role holder will require a minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Field Engineer in an ISP/Telco. They will be required to be flexible as some out of hours work will be required. They will be required to have a full clean Drivers Licence with safe pass and manual handling certification.
Network build or roll-out experience
Proven track record in Civils / Cabling and Splicing
DSL Installation and fault-finding experience
Fibre splicing certification an advantage
Familiarity with working in Data Centres and Comms Rooms/Exchanges
Competency handling/installing Fibre, CAT5 and AC/DC power
Experience of working at height/on roofs an advantage
Current Open Eir Unescorted Exchange Access certification
