Health and Safety Consultant / PSDP
The Health and Safety Consultant will join a consulting team based in Ireland, who are employed full-time as specialist consultants delivering high quality safety advisory services to in-house multi-disciplinary teams and clients particularly in roles fulfilling the duties of PSDP.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform the duties of the Project Supervisor for the Design Process (PSDP) as defined in the Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
2. Review designs and designer risk assessments to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
3. Participate in design coordination, site meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
4. Identify, coordinate, and manage residual risks and hazards.
5. Provide expert advice to clients and designers on compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices.
6. Offer safety support to internal and external teams on projects of varying scales and complexities.
7. Oversee contractor safety and review their safety documentation.
8. Manage project-specific tasks, including financial requirements.
9. Deliver general health and safety consultancy services to clients.
10. Support project bids by contributing health and safety expertise.
11. Provide technical guidance on design safety across all office projects, including risk coordination.
12. Build and maintain client relationships in line with the company’s business development strategy.
13. Apply quality assurance and environmental management principles in line with company policies.
14. Collaborate with the QSSE team to promote continuous improvement in safety culture and support key safety initiatives.
Skills and Experience:
1. Strong knowledge of design safety and construction health and safety practices.
2. Proven ability to develop and enhance company safety policies, systems, and culture.
3. Excellent report-writing skills, with strong time management and multitasking abilities across multiple projects.
4. Willingness to travel to sites and projects across Ireland.
Qualifications:
1. A relevant degree or diploma in Health and Safety (eligible for IOSH membership) or an engineering degree recognized by Engineers Ireland with post-qualification safety-specific training.
2. Completion of Engineers Ireland/ACEI PSDP CPD training.
