Quantity Surveyor (Office based)

A skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor is required to contribute expertise to dynamic construction projects.
Our client, with over 40 years of experience, has expanded into all activities of building in the Greater Leinster Area and beyond.
The successful candidate will assist the Managing Surveyor in the day-to-day running of the Surveying Department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Quantity Surveying:
o Procurement of subcontractors including compiling tenders, replying to queries from subcontractors, assessing tenders and issuing contract documents at appointment.
o Managing subcontractor's accounts throughout contracts from appointment to final accounts including issuing payment recommendations, contract administration and assisting Managing Surveyor in settlement of subcontractor's final accounts.
o Preparation of bills of quantities including take-off and assisting in compiling rates/budgets.
o Assist in contract tendering from compiling subcontract packages, obtaining quotations, transferring rates to Buildsoft/excel formats.
o Assist in interim valuation submissions for contracts.
o Occasional site visits to gather information and make records for surveying/cost items.
o Preparing budgets, cashflows and project programming and monitoring and updating of same.
o Variety of ad-hoc surveying duties.
* General Administration:
o Assist in general construction office administration including filing documents/drawings etc.
o Assist site management with head office backup such as issuing standard forms/record sheets, clarifying scope of works contained in contract price.
o Fully familiarise yourself with the Project Briefs (Drawings & Specifications).
o Completing and submitting applications for utility connections to sites including temporary supplies.
o Assist in compiling taking in charge applications for private development sites.
o Attend various ad-hoc meetings as necessary.
Requirements:
* 3+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in residential/commercial construction projects.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Experience in preparing interim valuations, progress reports, and final account settlements for multiple projects.
* Proficiency in tendering and procurement processes, including preparing tender documents, assessing subcontractor bids, and issuing contract appointments.
* Strong analytical skills to evaluate construction drawings, BOQs, and identify variations, with the ability to prepare detailed cost reports.
* Competence in materials cost tracking and budgeting, including quantity take-offs, pricing, and monitoring material orders against project requirements.
* Proficiency in QS software and Microsoft Office Suite, with strong administrative and reporting skills to support project and commercial teams effectively.
