This is the third and final step in the Field Technician Trajectory and expands on all of the requirements and expectations for Pre-wire and Trim/Equipment. The primary role of this position is to successfully see a project to completion and to provide leadership, mentorship and coaching to other Field Techs. The lead will have a foundation of necessary skills and knowledge to apply to most areas of the installation job scope. There are also specialization tracks that will round out a lead’s role and also add value to the needs of the company for Prewire, Rack Building, Programming, and Shades.
Core Responsibilities:
* Responsibilities include track record and successful demonstration and grasp of all components of Prewire, Trim, and Equipment job scopes
* Provides QA/QC of Equipment job scope
* Maintains up to date knowledge of audio, video, lighting, shades, network and control systems
* Works effectively with other techs to delegate tasks clearly and efficiently
* Flexible and willing to support all field scopes including prewire, trim, and equipment as needed
* Works with design team to close out system design scope
* Maintains consistent communication with project manager, Director of Ops, and other relevant internal roles and external stakeholders
* Communicates with Project Manager and Vendors to complete RMAs
* Troubleshoots and fixes system issues
* Completes, documents, and hands off all field portions of the Service Handoff requirements (defined via Service SOP) to ensure all relevant details are captured before closing out a project
* Full time work week of 40 hours with target utilization rate (time on site/billable time) of 75% or better
* Onsite work may consist of local and remote locations that may require travel
* Maintains accurate project time coding to be used in effective job costing and consistent completion of timesheets by the end of each work week
A lead is expected to demonstrate competence in all of the details outlined above, but also has the opportunity to continue within the full progression as a lead to become a leader in the scopes of pre-wire, rack building, programming, and shades. These specialties are
independent of one another but together, demonstrate the full, rounded, Field Technician Lead. Advancing to the top end of earning potential as a lead will require experience, competence, and willingness in each of these four specialty areas while maintaining high quality on the core responsibilities of a lead. Regardless of specialty(ies), a lead is expected to support the team in any capacity needed for a lead.
* Manages full pre-wire scope of project including being accountable for all details, documentation, and completion per the Pre-Wire Completion SOP
* Works well with other techs to effectively communicate and delegate required pre-wire tasks to ensure techs on site supporting the scope remain on task and productive
* Ensures pre-wire work scope is completed properly the first time, meeting all expectations for cleanliness, organization, labeling, and documentation
* Effectively juggles details and requirements of multiple prewire projects to ensure gaps between time on site don’t impact finished product
Rack Building:
* Requests and reviews project documentation from PM prior to rack building and equipment installation
* Sets up and calibrates all rack equipment
* Collaborates with PM and Design for rack and system design documentation
* Compares design to equipment on hand - reporting discrepancies to initiate changes
* Prepares, maintains, and documents all equipment installed in rack via checkout sheet
* Loads and properly centers and aligns rack equipment
* Accurately labels all wires following Aurum protocol for layout: power on right, signal path on left, lacer bars and service loops as necessary
* Calibrates all rack gear
* Coordinates with programmer, design and other field technicians to maintain integration as contracted
* Tests and inspects system
Shade Specialist:
* Coordinates with PM and Design Department on type of shades to be installed at each location and how they are controlled
* Measures for shade according to shade manufacturer specifications per type of shade and field obstacles
* Determines fabric rotation according to field obstacles
* Measures for flap and hanger, pocket, and/or side rails if applicable
* Determines number of power supplies and other accessories necessary
* Coordinates with PM and Design Department for fabric, bracket, and hembar selection
* Enters accurate and detailed information in applicable software for quote and ordering
* Installs shades according to manufacturer specs
* Coordinates with programmer to set limits and control
* Tests and inspect all shades
Programmer:
* Sets up modem - Tests internet connectivity, sets in bridge mode if possible
* Configures router - Sets up internal network configuration according to Aurum/Third party protocols
* Sets up switch(es) - Set up switch configuration according to Aurum/Third party protocols
* Configures wireless access points - Configures AP's to Aurum/Third party protocols
* Sets up MOTU switch(es) - Configures MOTU switch(es) for IP audio distribution
* Configures IP video switch(es) - Configures switches for IP video distribution
* Creates and completes network doc in order to facilitate remote access, control, and service
* If applicable to the client, the following applies:
* Prepares lighting control system - Collaborates with PM and Design Department to determine basic hardware and software requirements for a beginning quote for the project
* Trim and CO preparation of lighting control system - Works with PM and electrician to determine as built loads, hardware, and programming requirements for client move in
* Programs lighting control system - Works with PM and electrician to create lighting control program
* Programs shade controls - Works with shade specialist to control shades
* Prepares A/V control system - Works with PM and Design Department to determine integration requirements for the client
* Programs A/V control system - Works with rack builder and field techs to program the A/V system based on integration requirements
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Thorough knowledge and understanding of local building code for low voltage wiring and building requirements

Primary positions interacting with this position
* This role reports to the Director of Operations, Warehouse and Project Managers. This role also works closely to support, coach and mentor other Technicians
