Summary of the Role
The Maintenance Technicians are responsible for supporting Manufacturing and Technical Departments through calibration/maintenance and introduction of new equipment, provision of tooling, jigs and fixtures and the development of robust processes and operations.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Develop, install and maintain planned maintenance and calibration schedules which conform to the requirements of the Nordson quality system.
2. Perform a programme of work based on the schedules to ensure all equipment is in calibration at all times and maintained in optimum condition.
3. Working with his/her Manager and with manufacturing and technical personnel, ensure jigs, fixtures and tooling are available at all times to support the production schedules and technical development/projects schedule.
4. Responsible for equipment qualification, ensuring the site has its required critical spares, CE marking of equipment and managing equipment breakdowns.
5. Ensure jigs, fixtures, tooling and equipment are installed and maintained to ensure the safety of personnel, particularly that safety guards and features are in full working order.
6. Provide a rapid response and troubleshooting service to manufacturing and technical covering breakdowns and other processing problems/improvements.
7. Liaise with tooling, equipment and production or maintenance service suppliers and contractors to identify and purchase requirements.
8. Install and commission new equipment, working with technical and manufacturing staff to ensure new equipment introductions, validations and changes are effectively documented in accordance with the Nordson quality system.
9. Maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the department, while adhering to required standards of housekeeping, GMP and safety.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Completed a craft trade followed by 3 years practical maintenance experience; electrical/mechanical experience necessary.
2. Experience of the application and understanding of problem-solving techniques.
3. A minimum of 5 years in a maintenance environment, including at least 3 years medical device/pharmaceutical and/or diagnostics manufacturing experience is desirable.
4. Good working knowledge of quality systems as they apply to the maintenance and calibration areas.
5. Self-starter with good inter-personal skills.
6. Practical, level-headed individual prepared to actively participate as an active member of the team.
7. The ability to troubleshoot process and equipment in a logical manner to resolve issues.
