Role Purpose: As part of our growth strategy for the business, we are currently looking to recruit an experienced Employee Relations/ Industrial Relations Practitioner to join our consulting practice. This senior role will act as a key member of our HR service delivery team providing an opportunity to use their substantial HR, project and stakeholder management experience to design and deliver solutions for both retained and consultancy clients, in line with a pre agreed proposal, budget and timeframes.
Working within an experienced team, the role of Senior ER/IR Consultant will focus on managing and leading out on a range of complex issues and supporting our extensive client base with solutions focused employee relations and industrial relations advice across a range of key sectors.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Consulting Delivery – 85% of time
In this role the Senior ER/IR Consultant is required to design and deliver employee relations / industrial relations consultancy based on our principles of W@owee.
Employee Relations / Industrial Relations
* Acting as subject matter expert to deliver effective Employee Relations / Industrial Relations support to a portfolio of clients across a diverse range of sectors, providing technical expertise and specialist advice on a broad range of HR and Employment issues.
* Leading and supporting external stakeholders in the delivery of organisational change programmes including organisational restructures, collective redundancies and TUPE.
* Leading out on complex workplace investigations, hearings and appeals involving disciplinary, grievance, bullying, harassment and sexual harassment matters.
* Maintaining a robust documentation management system to ensure key data is recorded, risk assessments and client advises are accurately recorded and client expectations are managed and delivered.
* Preparing reports as required to ensure compliance and support the effective conclusion of employee relations / industrial relations issues.
* Mediation and conflict facilitation as a means of resolving internal conflict.
* Representation at third parties such as the Workplace Relations Commission and Labour Court providing effective supports to key stakeholders under employment legislation.
* Management of industrial relations disputes with key stakeholders and external agencies.
* Supporting the development and implementation of effective employee relations strategies to build out the organisational capability in addressing and managing employee relations related issues through engagement with an agreed portfolio of clients.
* Providing proactive ER/ IR guidance and support and managing complex employee relations issues.
* Contributing as a team member to support your colleagues across a range of ER/ IR interventions.
* Proactively managing and influencing key relationships that positively impact the client experience.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Presenting and facilitating discussion with groups of senior stakeholders on a given project to articulate a proposed approach, discuss risks and benefits, alignment to organisational strategy, devising and implementing initiatives to align to the needs and priorities of the client ensuring the legislative, regulatory requirements and organisational objectives are met.
* Creating and presenting end of project results and options for future consideration.
* Facilitating team sessions to explore a given topic and draw out agreement on desired actions e.g. employee engagement survey results, focus groups
* Delivering HR training programmes – Fundamentals of Employment Law; Conducting Disciplinaries and Grievances, Performance Management, Conflict Resolution etc.
* Influencing and engaging senior managers, building strong relationships.
2. Supporting Growth & Development – 15% of time
This role supports the development of the business and the professional development of the team by providing expert knowledge in response to client queries and innovating to improve the service offering.

* Complete internal requirements around own billing cycles ensuring commerciality and client satisfaction in all client delivery.
* Completion of project evaluations.
* Excellence in work practices: valid, accurate, complete and timeous.
* Attending internal team meetings.
* Support individual team members in client / project related HR challenges, in an outcome focused manner.
Business Development
* Providing advice / guidance to potential clients on a broad range of HR issues and support development and delivery of proposals.
* Work closely with the Senior Operational Leadership Team, HR Services Manager and Business Development team to identify new Strategic HR & Employment law needs of existing and new clients.
* Propose innovative ways to improve the HR and Employment Law offering for the purposes of the client experience.
* Attend and participate in HR & Employment law events for the company and with identified key Strategic Partners to the business, to build and deliver upon our annual plans.
The successful candidate will need the following qualifications, experience and skills to meet the demands of the role:
Qualifications
* Relevant degree or master’s qualification in HR/ Law or related discipline.
* Ideally post-graduate qualification in Employment Law/ Conflict Resolution and/or MBA.
Experience
* At least 10 years relevant HR, employee relations and/or industrial relations experience within a busy ER/IR/ legal environment or HR consulting practice.
* Exposure to a broad range of HR issues with supporting knowledge.
* Delivery of stakeholder workshops and training.
* Extensive professional experience in Irish employment law, HR, employee relations and industrial relations issues and practices.
* Strong project management and client management competence.
* Demonstrated success in facilitating change, solid problem solving, excellent facilitation and analytical skills.
* Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills.
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; must be an articulate and persuasive communicator.
* Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
* Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
