3 days per week in office.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the strategy and execution of the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs strategy for our client, delivering projects and initiatives designed to enhance their reputation among consumers, media, political, industry, and other audiences.
The role is based in the client’s Head Office, working as a member of the growing Corporate Communications and Public Affairs team in an exciting and fast-paced environment.
You will also be part of the wider Communications team.
Key Accountabilities:
* In line with the client’s overarching Communications strategy, support and manage the development and implementation of appropriate Corporate PR and Public Affairs strategies and programmes.
* Contribute to the day-to-day management of the company’s engagement with the media by preparing timely and accurate responses to queries received through the external PR agency.
* Accountable for managing the external PR agency to develop and manage corporate communications and reputation programmes.
* Collaborate closely with relevant teams in head office, including Marketing, Real Estate, Sustainability, Buying, Store Operations, HR, and Projects Team, to ensure alignment of strategy and messaging.
* Responsible for key areas within the team.
* Support the CSD team and manage communications for all incidents, issues, and potential crises.
* Develop corporate positioning/messaging for communications to corporate audiences, ensuring alignment across relevant functions.
* Collate and deliver communications training and presentations in your area of responsibility.
* Monitor media and government policy, informing the wider business of relevant topics and advising on necessary actions.
* Track, analyse, and report monthly on communications and reputation results.
* Ongoing analysis of your area of responsibility with reporting outputs for senior management.
* Budgetary forecasting and management may be required.
Requirements & Competencies:
* Ideally 5 years' experience in the implementation of corporate communications and public affairs strategies through drafting press releases, speeches, presentation materials, and key media engagements.
* Commercially minded with awareness of the broader business impact of communications activities.
* Demonstrated leadership qualities, fostering an efficient and cooperative working environment.
* Ability to adapt to changing business needs and responsibilities.
* Significant experience in crisis and issues management, with the ability to work under pressure and manage crisis situations effectively and promptly.
* Experience working with or managing PR agencies is essential.
* Corporate PR and Public Affairs experience within large, international, or retail businesses.
* Excellent communication skills, including strong writing and interpersonal skills.
* Proactive, diplomatic, and trustworthy, with a flexible approach to work.
* Highly organised, able to manage a high volume of work and prioritise accordingly, with a systematic approach to tasks.
* Creative, independent thinker with a talent for generating fresh ideas and challenging existing strategies.
Full driver’s licence is required for this role.
