Job Summary
We are seeking a Fire Prevention Officer to join our team. This is a critical role that requires strong expertise in fire safety and prevention. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of ensuring the highest standards of fire safety within an organisation.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice on fire safety equipment and risk reduction strategies to minimise the risk of fires occurring.
* Conduct regular inspections of buildings, means of escape and fire-fighting equipment to ensure they are properly located, well-marked, in good repair and in good working order.
* Review and draw up fire orders, including evacuation schemes for various types of building and institution.
* Monitor and report on health and safety performance of external contractors engaged on construction-related activity on our premises.
* Assist in setting up and amending Emergency Plans and provide input into planning expenditure in relation to Fire Safety by highlighting and prioritising essential works required.
* Curtail an outbreak of fire pending the arrival of the fire brigade, prevent smoke spread and evacuate danger areas.
Requirements
* Hold a HETAC level 7 qualification (NQF) in engineering, fire engineering, architecture, Health and Safety or Building Services/Building Survey.
* Have two years' experience in a comparable Fire and Safety role.
* Have a high degree of proficiency/expertise in Microsoft Office.
