About the role
What you need to know:
* AIG Europe is the market leader in Financial Lines Insurance. The successful candidate will be engaged in underwriting Financial Lines Insurance products for Irish companies.
* This role offers a very interesting and exciting challenge and will include managing the existing commercial and FI portfolio and growing profitably.
* Managing a team of 6 underwriters, responsibilities will include:
* Underwriting of allocated renewal book in line with compliance with standard underwriting procedures
* Acquisition of new business in line with targets set by Head of Financial Lines
* Achieve budgeted renewal retention rates
* Cross selling other financial lines products where insured does not buy or where these covers are placed with an alternative carrier
* Establish and maintain relationships with brokers
* Dealing with broker technical and wording queries
* Continued development of knowledge of financial lines products
* Continued development of knowledge of the team
* The Team Lead is expected to maintain contact with market changes and developments, including statute, and contribute to the creating and refinement of new and existing products. Organisation and Implementation of any action plans emanating from the Strategic Plans as directed by Head of Financial Lines and Regional Leadership team will also be a key responsibility
What we’re looking for:
* Multiple years of experience in Financial Lines Underwriting ideally within Management Liability and Financial Institutions
* Demonstrated experience managing a team
* ACII qualification (or progress towards)
* Minimum 2:1 Degree qualified (ideally from a business discipline)
* High level of numeracy and ability to analyse data along with technical skills required for the job, including soft skills like problem solving ability as well as personality traits (team player, proactive etc.) that you envision for a successful hire.
* Effective communicator with ability to interact positively with both colleagues and clients.
* Good leadership qualities and maintain ethical approach to business.
* Flexible approach to rapidly changing working environment and ability to make rational and timely decisions and at times working to tight deadlines.
