Vhi is looking to recruit Bank Urgent Care Physicians for both our Carrickmines and Swords clinics. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a vibrant and team-focused environment that has the patient at the centre of everything we do. The core of the role is to provide excellent clinical care in a manner that is patient-centred and with the highest quality standards. Opportunities to develop clinical and personal capabilities will be forthcoming in this role. Post graduate training in Urgent Care will be offered to UC Physicians, along with other development opportunities.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Treat patients in a caring and respectful manner. Provide them with information that they can comprehend and do your utmost to ensure that their experience in SwiftCare is a positive one.
* Provide care to patients presenting with a range of urgent care presentations, including at least: minor medical paediatric and adult presentation illnesses, minor injury presentations requiring basic wound care, use of suturing and use of tissue glue where appropriate, initial diagnosis/management of orthopaedic injuries, facilitating referral to specialists, initial interpretation of x-rays (and correlation with final radiologist report), initial interpretation of ECG’s if performed (and correlation with final cardiologist report).
* Where appropriate ensure any investigations are arranged for the patient, and to provide clinical audit on any results regarding the individual patient.
* Indicate where appropriate any procedures done and complete any additional forms for patient care such as GP procedure claim forms, welfare certs, insurance reports etc.
* Treat patients who attend the clinic for consultation, and record in contemporaneous fashion an electronic medical history, including where appropriate: history, examination, investigations, treatment/management (including prescriptions) and a working diagnosis.

* Take on the role of duty clinical shift leader where required.
* Support the onboarding of new staff as guided by the Clinical Lead and assist in mentoring if required to ensure the development of new staff.

* Play a leading role in the achievement of the Clinic’s objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Ensure all clinical policies are followed and understood and put into practice in particular when looking after the more vulnerable patients and ensuring child protection guidelines are always followed.
* Proactively identify complaints or incidents in order to drive a learning culture. Cooperate fully with the investigation of any complaint and the response generation for the complaint.
* Adhere to and participate in all health & safety, infection control, risk management and quality policies and procedures.
* Participate in any relevant accreditation process.
* Work within Vhi SwiftCare’s Clinical Governance Strategy and associated work-plan and professional body guidance on good clinical practice.
* Be involved in medical and multi-professional clinical audit at local level and also audit if required for your professional body. Undertake risk assessments relevant to your post and the clinical service provided.
Self-Development
* Develop competency in relation to Urgent Care and Integrated Medicine – as supported by Vhi.
* Responsible for maintaining continuous professional development in agreement with the Clinic Lead / Clinical Director. Attend mandatory training required for the role and participate in CME events organised by the company such as Clinical Forum, Journal Clubs, CME days, resus drills, urgent care training, etc.
* Adhere to any professional body/national requirements for continuing professional education and to ensure that all personal skills and expertise are maintained to meet the competency requirements of an UC Physician.
* Partake in ongoing performance review/appraisal process from both a feedback and developmental perspective.
* Continuously seek out opportunities for personal development both within the Vhi SwiftCare environment and externally. Where feasible disseminate this knowledge across the team and amongst peers.
The successful candidate must have:
* Registered with the Irish Medical Council.
* Minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in clinical practice, including significant experience in a general practice in a community setting and 2 years of recent urgent care/ minor trauma/A&E experience.
* 6 months experience with paediatric patients is essential.
* Training in ED / GP or other post graduate qualification would be highly beneficial.
* Must be capable of interpreting x-rays and provide orthopaedic management for musculoskeletal injuries and fractures.

* Flexibility across a 7 day roster.
* Patient/customer focused and demonstrating the related skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and approach with both patients and colleagues.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clinical notes.
* Good knowledge of risk management and clinical audit.
* Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
