Senior Database Systems Administrator - Contract role Role Overview The Senior Database Systems Administrator is a pivotal role within the Project Management Office (PMO).
The individual will ensure the stability, reliability, and modernization of database systems, with a focus on legacy systems, database migrations, and cloud integrations.
The role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver robust database solutions.
Key Responsibilities Database Design and Maintenance: Architect, develop, and maintain stable and reliable database systems across multiple platforms.
Legacy Systems Management: Reverse-engineer, document, and troubleshoot legacy databases (e.g., Access, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) to ensure continuity and support.
Migration and Integration: Plan and execute the migration of legacy databases to cloud-based solutions (e.g., Azure SQL Server, AWS).
Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams including Business Analysts, CRM Developers, and Project Managers to design data architecture and end-to-end business solutions.
Documentation: Develop comprehensive technical and architectural documentation.
System Monitoring and Support: Monitor database performance, ensure data integrity, troubleshoot issues, and implement regular updates and patches.
Disaster Recovery and Security: Develop backup and recovery strategies, ensuring robust data security and compliance.
Key Deliverables Stabilize and maintain existing database systems.
Document and troubleshoot legacy and current systems.
Implement database best practices and provide technical leadership for database development projects.
Support third-party and internal teams in database upgrades and migrations.

Essential Qualifications Experience: 7+ years of professional experience in database systems administration.
Expertise: Advanced knowledge of SQL Server, legacy systems, and cloud platforms.
Certifications: Professional certification in SQL Server or equivalent.
Skills: Proficiency in reverse engineering legacy systems, data modeling, and lifecycle development processes.
Language Proficiency: Native-level English or C2 Mastery/Proficiency certification for non-native speakers.
Key Competencies Technical Proficiency: Multi-platform database management (Access, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
Legacy system customization and migration.
Cloud and Hybrid Solutions: Expertise in cloud migrations and hybrid architecture models.
Documentation and Lifecycle Management: Strong experience in creating technical documentation and managing the full development lifecycle.

Work Location: Hybrid - Custom House/Ballina (3 days remote, 2 days onsite).
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday (08:00 to 18:00), 240 days per annum.
