Job Summary
A Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of AWS data centers. This includes managing risk, implementing corrective and preventative maintenance, and supervising vendors. The ideal candidate has experience in critical facilities management and a strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.
Main Responsibilities
* Ensure all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment operates within contract parameters.
* Manage planned and unplanned site works for critical infrastructure, including risk management and mitigation.
* Supervise contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to ensure work meets established practices and local legislation.
* Prepare reports on data center facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
* Generate change management requests and incident management tickets.
* Coordinate with business leaders and operating partners to execute projects and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
* Implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.
* Support operating partners in resolving infrastructure engineering issues.
Day-to-Day Activities
* Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
* Perform rack installs, decommissioning, and facility management.
* Provide operational readings and key performance indicators to maintain uptime.
* Oversee maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
Requirements
* High school or equivalent diploma.
* 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
* Ability to participate in a 24 x 7 rotating shift roster.
Preferred Qualifications
* 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
* Experience leading and managing operations of critical facilities requiring in-depth knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
* Experience managing vendors/contractors performing construction, maintenance, and upgrading works in large-scale critical environments.
