Job Title: CNMII
Role Overview:
The CNMII plays a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and resources within the theatre area. This role is responsible for implementing and providing quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence-based approach.
* Provide clinical leadership and ensure safe, comprehensive nursing care to service users within established guidelines.
* Co-ordinate, assess, plan, deliver, and review service user care by all staff in designated areas.
* Participate in teams, meetings, and committees as necessary, communicating and working collaboratively with other team members.
* Foster co-ordination, cooperation, and liaison across healthcare teams.
* Collaborate with service users, family, carers, and other staff in treatment/care.
* Assess, Plan, Implement, and evaluate nursing care through personal involvement and supervising the activities of other qualified nurses.
* Ensure care delivered by the team is based on standards formulated from evidence-based practice and hospital policy.
* Regularly evaluate and monitor patient care using quality systems to ensure care is delivered.
* Develop and promote good relationships with patients and carers.
* Work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team promoting teamwork and excellent patient care.
* Evaluate and further develop the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the department.
* Ensure all staff are familiar with equipment use and maintenance.
* Maintain confidentiality regarding patients/residents.
Managerial Responsibilities:
* Supervise, co-ordinate, and deploy nursing and support staff to ensure optimal care delivery in designated areas.
* Manage communication at departmental level and facilitate team building.
* Provide leadership and motivation for staff, promoting good working relations and work performance.
* Manage resources efficiently and effectively.
* Lead practice development within the clinical area.
* Promote, facilitate, and participate in policy and procedure development, monitoring, and proactive improvement.
* Contribute to policy formulation, development, and implementation at area and hospital levels.
* Actively participate in the Nursing Management structure by supporting the CNM3 and deputising in their absence when required.
* Maintain clinical and administrative records and reporting arrangements.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Registration in the General Division of the live Register of Nurses kept by NMBI.
* Desirable: Completion of a recognised post-registration course in Peri-Operative Care.
Experience:
* At least two years' experience in a management position in theatres is desirable.
* Desirable: Completion of a recognised post-registration course in Peri-Operative Care.
Competencies and Knowledge:
* Completion of a Management Course or commitment to undertake same.
* Demonstrate continuing professional development.
* Awareness of HR policies and procedures.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
* Experience in change management.
