Staff Grade Occupational Therapist
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Staff Occupational Therapist to join our primary care team in West Tipperary. In this role, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centered occupational therapy services to clients across the lifespan. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing treatment programs to support clients’ health, well-being, and independence in their everyday lives. Key Responsibilities of Staff Grade Occupational Therapist
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and social abilities.
* Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to promote independence and improve quality of life.
* Evaluate and adjust treatment goals and plans in collaboration with clients and their families, ensuring a client-centered approach.
* Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions, including activities of daily living (ADL) training, cognitive-behavioral techniques, physical rehabilitation, and equipment recommendations.
* Support clients with chronic health conditions, developmental disorders, mental health concerns, and other complex needs in a primary care setting.
* Educate clients and families on adaptive techniques and resources to improve daily functioning.
* Work collaboratively with primary care team members, including GPs, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers, and other allied health professionals.
* Attend regular team meetings to discuss case management, treatment planning, and service delivery improvement.
* Provide reports and feedback to relevant stakeholders, including families, carers, and health providers.
* Promote awareness of occupational therapy and its benefits in primary care to clients, their families, and the community.
* Develop and deliver group workshops, presentations, and educational materials as needed.
* Advocate for clients’ needs within the health and social care system, providing guidance on accessing community resources and support.
* Maintain accurate, confidential records of assessments, interventions, and outcomes according to regulatory and organizational standards.
* Complete documentation in a timely manner to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and best practice.
Educational Requirements of Staff Grade Occupational Therapist
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
* Full registration with CORU (Ireland’s Health and Social Care Professionals Council) as an Occupational Therapist.
* Experience in a clinical setting, ideally in primary care, community care, or a similar environment.
* Experience in working with diverse populations, including children, adults, and elderly clients, is preferred.
