Overview
This role involves leading Tirlán's Food Safety Programs across manufacturing sites and central functions.
You will be responsible for ensuring regulatory change and customer-specific requirements are considered in the Food Safety Program.
The primary location is Abbey Quarter, Kilkenny, with frequent travel to manufacturing sites required.
Responsibilities
* Develop and manage the company's risk mitigation strategy for all products (Food & Feed), overseeing contaminants throughout the supply chain.
* Create programs for conducting risk assessments, verification, validation, and monitoring of food safety plans.
* Drive a robust Food, Feed Safety & Contaminants management program through collaboration with Quality Operations and Quality Systems.
* Monitor emerging issues related to food safety and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
* Deliver expertise and technical advice on complex food safety concerns.
* Cultivate relationships with state bodies, industry groups, and overarching bodies to ensure best-in-class methods are deployed.
* Attend forums with external bodies to understand regional food safety concerns and emerging risks.
* Conduct periodic food & feed safety audits against regulatory and internal standards.
* Support site Quality Operations in food safety risk assessment during incident escalations.
* Sign off on food safety elements of milk purchasing and grain purchasing policies.
* Benchmark Tirlán's Food Safety Risk Program against industry leaders.
Requirements
* Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or equivalent discipline (minimum 2.1).
* Minimum 10 years' experience in the food industry with senior food safety and risk management experience.
* Previous experience with microbial and chemical contaminants risk assessments and control.
* Proven track record in industry-specific risks and mitigation programs.
* Strong technical knowledge and mastery of food safety legislation.
* Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
* A self-directed leader capable of creating and delivering our Food Safety culture and strategic plan.
