JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB PURPOSE:
The Buildings and Estates Department require a Smarter Travel Coordinator to maintain and build upon our work as part of our Green Campus program, continuously update its travel and transport plan in line with Limerick City and County Council land use planning conditions and transport policies for future applications, and to develop sustainable transport behaviours and uptake at University of Limerick. With the support of a mentor, the Smarter Travel Coordinator will be put in charge of a small budget and tasked with the responsibility of designing, implementing, and evaluating Smarter travel projects, including master planning of travel infrastructure. The role will also include other related sustainability projects.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Support the preparation, development, and delivery of Smarter Travel initiatives on campus to support behaviour change and progress towards/maintain awards such as National Smarter Travel Campus awards and RSA Leading Lights Awards.
* Gather and analyse data relating to Smarter Travel to prepare and present relevant information and recommendations to colleagues, stakeholders, and sponsors (campus travel surveys and UL bus survey).
* Undertake a gap analysis of Smarter Travel provisions on campus and verify key priorities by engaging with staff and students.
* Develop and maintain effective partnerships with NTA which supports the University efforts to make Smarter Travel an attractive choice, linking in with wider programmes, initiatives, and events.
* Establish and/or develop and maintain appropriate communication channels relevant to Smarter Travel development projects.
* Maintain and continuously update its travel and transport plan in line with Limerick City and County Council and use planning conditions and transport policies for future applications.
* Design, plan, implement and evaluate Smarter Travel projects and activities which reflect key priorities and feedback from stakeholders’ engagement.
* Design and update various promotional publications.
* Design and create video resources for online use.
* Design online promotions.
* Assist UL Environmental Society.
* Coordinate UL Safety Week.
* Update Mobility Management Plan.
* Promote UL Green Campus initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE, FUNCTIONAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge
* Knowledge of UL Green Campus Program - Desirable
* Knowledge of NTA Smarter Travel Campus Program - Desirable
* Project and/or event and/or promotional management - Essential
Functional/Work-based Skills
* Ability to take a proactive approach to completing tasks and resolving enquiries, anticipating problems and funding solutions - Desirable
* Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills - Essential
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to critically summarise and communicate information - Essential
* Strong IT skills including ability to make efficient and effective use of Microsoft and Adobe programmes - Essential
Experience
* Minimum 1 year’s satisfactory post qualification experience in a related field - Essential
* Managing a busy and diverse workload, successfully working in a professional manner to meet deadlines, sometimes within a tight timescale - Desirable
* A track record of preparing and adapting communication to suit different audiences and purposes - Desirable
