Lead Mechanical Engineer
A key role has become available for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to partner with Ireland's foremost energy company on a 12-month contract.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the Safety Adviser and project team members to ensure all works adhere to statutory safety, health and environmental regulations and internal ESB Technical Standards & Guidelines.
* Manage Main EPC Mechanical Contract and other Mechanical contracts/work scopes assigned by the Project Manager.
* Liaise with EMP specialist teams to deliver overhauls in line with defined protocols and procedures.
* Support Inspection & Test Plans for Mechanical aspects of the unit, in conjunction with Competent Persons/Asset Management Specialists.
* Ensure quality management aligns with Project Quality Plan responsibilities.
* Supervise contractors' day-to-day activities and review key ITP protocol sheets.
* Work with station Management and Maintenance Teams during the project.
* Conduct regular safety, environment, and quality audits.
* Report progress against schedule and attend project meetings as deemed necessary by the Project Manager.
* Collaborate with the Project Manager to control costs for assigned contracts.
* Develop technical specifications for work scopes on Mechanical plant and equipment.
* Participate in tendering and procurement processes.
* Use plant modification processes for Mechanical plant modifications.
* Ensure Mechanical procedures and drawings are up-to-date.
* Utilize ESB Contractor Management (CM) process to manage assigned contracts, including CM tools to track contract progress and holding Kick-Off, Progress, Close-Out meetings, etc.
* Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), workshop visits if required.
* Create Mechanical Close-Out Report.
Requirements:
* Experience as a mechanical engineer or lead mechanical engineer.
* Background in managing mechanical contracts/projects.
* Knowledge of ESB Technical Standards & Guidelines and statutory safety, health and environmental regulations.
* Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including contractors and project teams.
* Strong communication and leadership skills.
Location and Remuneration:
* Hydroelectric Power Station.
* €600 per day (INSIDE IR35).
