The Estates & Facilities department of Trinity College Dublin is undertaking the ‘digital transformation’ of the estate with digital systems enabling a step change in ensuring efficient and sustainable use of resources, a high standard of customer service, effective project delivery, compliance with Government Policy and a safe and compliant estate.
The BIM manager will play a pivotal role in the design and implementation of an Estates Information & Systems Strategy with a scaleable methodology that can be applied across all areas of the University’s estate reflecting industry best standards whilst improving accessibility and usability of building information.
This is a crucial role within the Estates & Facilities Department (E&F) with the opportunity to make a real impact to the digitisation of the estate service delivery across our operations, through the design and implementation of robust and effective CAFM and integrated building information systems. The role will be required to enhance interoperability across legacy, new, and future systems and advance digital information management.
Reporting to the Estates Information & Systems Manager, the BIM Manager will lead out in the following areas:
1.Supporting the Estate Information & Systems Manager in the development and delivery of CAD/ BIM strategies, ensuring exceptional value and experience for all stakeholders;
2. To support the development and coordination of all building information relevant to the estate and the wider university to enhance accessibility to vital building information;
3. Working with the wider Estates Department community on the delivery of our asset information resource and to develop and deliver asset data management strategies and effective governance, processes & procedures to improve the quality, management and utilisation of estates data and assets information; and
4. Identify and procure suitable standards, strategies, processes, storage, and assurance activities to create an environment where information is seen as an asset for the University
Job Requirements (including qualification & experience)
Qualifications
* A good honours degree (or equivalent) in an IT or built environment related discipline
* Relevant professional certification in BIM (such as RICS BIM Manger Certification, BRE or BSi Professional Certification or BuildingSMART international ISO19650 Certification); and BIM software accreditation (such as Revit Certified Professional)
* Relevant professional qualification such as Chartered Manager with CMI, Chartered Architectural Technologist CIAT, Certified IWFM with the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management or Chartered Construction Manager with CIOB
Knowledge
* Demonstrable understanding of industry standards such as SFG20, ISO9001, ISO19650, BIM Frameworks and specific technical standards
* Demonstrable knowledge of Estates, building management, facilities management, and/or capital project management
* Demonstrable knowledge of BIM Level 2 CAFM, GIS, IWMS systems, IT based project planning & reporting systems (MS Office suite), coupled with a high level of computer competence and a good understanding of the principles of process-mapping and simplification
* A comprehensive understanding of the facilities and regulatory environment, the construction and maintenance of buildings and the systems to ensure the optimum control, compliance, safety, and comfort
Experience
* A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a comparable working environment
* Experience of implementing validation processes and a strong focus on ensuring BIM compliance
* Demonstrable experience of delivering a core support activity in a large multi-faceted organisation involving complex data systems using a variety of specialist software applications
Skills
* The ability to use BIM and computer aided design systems
* Demonstrable knowledge and skills relating to software review and IT based project planning and reporting systems
* Excellent and effective inter-personal skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to communicate at all levels, with tact, diplomacy, and openness
* Excellent people management skills and proven ability to deliver through a wider team structure
* Ability to work under pressure; able to manage multiple tasks and changing demands with minimum supervision
* Knowledge and understanding of building hand-over and soft-landing processes
* Data management skills including use of Excel to organise and manipulate
* A commitment to continuing professional development
Benefits & Compensation
Salary: This appointment will be made on the Administrative 1 (Points 1-3), Salary Scale (€68,181 – €88,201 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy
