Job Description:
This is what you will do:
Specialist, Environmental Health and Safety will provide environmental, health, and safety support for all operations at the Alexion Dublin Manufacturing Facility.
You will be responsible for:
1. Developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental, health & safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations and company standards and values.
2. Working closely with manufacturing staff operations and the EHS Team to promote safe manufacturing practices, procedures, and proper use of containment equipment and facilities.
3. Demonstrating leadership and a strong desire to protect employees, our community, and the environment – leading with a 'Everyone Home Safe' mind-set.
4. Identifying and addressing site EHS issues and employee concerns.
5. Performing incident management activities including injury management investigations and associated recordkeeping.
6. Identifying, implementing, and tracking corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
7. Performing EHS hazard assessments including Task and Area Risk Assessments and making recommendations to control hazards.
8. Assisting with the governance of life safety fire and property risk management programs.
9. Developing, implementing, and maintaining training programs for health, safety, and the environment.
10. Being responsible for developing appropriate emergency plans and response capabilities.
11. Maintaining availability to respond to emergencies during off-hours (evenings, weekends, holidays).
12. Staying abreast of new EHS government regulations as they are promulgated as well as new developments in industry (best practices).
13. Building relationships with key departments to foster support for EHS programs.
14. Assisting with the development and maintenance of the Environmental and Health & Safety Management System.
You will need to have:
1. B.Sc. in an EHS-related discipline, such as engineering, physical science, or biological science/chemistry, or equivalent experience required.
2. Qualification or experience in safety and environmental required.
3. A minimum of 3 years' professional experience required in environment, health, and safety programs.
4. Knowledge and understanding of environment, health, and safety permitting and regulations.
5. Knowledge and understanding of environment, health, and safety compliance reporting.
6. Ability to make effective oral presentations and work as part of a team.
7. Proficiency in organizing, communication, problem solving, multitasking, and collaborating with others.
8. Ability to develop and roll out EHS programs as required by the operational needs of the business.
9. The individual in this position will be able to organize his/her own work on a routine basis and requires minimal supervision. The individual must be able to provide updates and tracking on tasks.
10. Good communication skills required, both verbal and written.
We would prefer for you to have:
1. A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in cGMP environment is desirable.
2. Specific experience in hazardous waste management or other professional EHS trainings or certifications a plus.
3. Experience in Integrated Pollution Prevention & Control (IPPC) or Industrial Emissions (IE) Licensing, GMM (Genetically Modified Microorganism) Consent and/or Emissions Trading preferred.
4. Experience with Manual Handling and Visual Display Unit Risk Assessments is desirable.
