Chief 1 Respiratory Physiologist (Full time permanent contract 35 hours per week) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chief 1 Respiratory Physiologist to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway. Job Purpose: Perform and analyse diagnostic tests including full polysomnography, sleep studies, full lung function tests to patients and promote and preserve the Bon Secours Mission, Values & Ethos Ideal Candidate: Ability to work as part of a team providing a quality service Personally, and professionally accountable for patient care Hold a degree in Clinical Measurement Level 8 or hold a Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement certificate. Two to three years post qualification experience in sleep diagnostics and therapy. Experience in performing full Pulmonary Function testing. Ability to take operational responsibility under the direction of the Respiratory Consultants. Experience in the set up and analysis of full inpatient diagnostic polysomnography and CPAP titrations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Flexible approach to work patterns Responsibilities and Experience: Plan, organise and implement the daily flow of work in the Sleep lab under the direction of the head of department. Liaise with the admissions office and consultant's secretaries to schedule sleep appointments. Perform and analyse the required sleep test (full/limited/titration study/ overnight Oximetry) reporting and highlighting abnormal or inconsistent results. To ensure all procedures are carried out professionally and safely. Assist in the provision of patient education in the form of e.g. DVD/Video, information sheets. Calibrate and carry out routine maintenance of all sleep equipment. To sterilize and disinfect all equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations and in conjunction with infection control policies in the hospital. To ensure equipment is maintained to manufacturer recommendations and replaced as required. Maintain stringent quality control management to ensure ongoing accurate reliable results and a safe laboratory environment for both staff and patients. To ensure hospital policies and procedures are adhered to as they affect the department. Maintain good communication and liaise effectively with all departments and with the relevant external organisations ensuring the delivery of a quality service. To undertake any other duties that may be required. Essential Qualifications: MPPM: Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement Level 8 At least three years post qualification experience in sleep diagnostics and therapy.
