Purpose
The Project Automation/Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation and control systems for various industrial projects. This role will support the full project lifecycle, from concept through commissioning, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in PLC programming, SCADA systems, and control system integration, with a focus on optimizing automated processes.
Responsibilities
1. Design, develop, and implement control systems, including PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
3. Develop and review technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and process control narratives.
4. Perform troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning of automation systems.
5. Optimize existing automation processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.
6. Integrate automation solutions with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
7. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
8. Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations teams.
9. Participate in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities.
10. Work with external vendors and contractors to procure and integrate automation hardware and software.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in automation and control systems engineering, including PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.), SCADA, and HMI development.
3. Strong understanding of industrial networking, communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.), and control system architectures.
4. Experience with robotics, vision systems, or motion control is a plus.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
6. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
