Job Description
To manage and lead a service and staff team providing a program of care, learning and developmental support to children and young adults with additional needs and their parents/guardians.
This is a 1 Year Fixed Term Contract with option to extend subject to funding. A 6 month probation period will be applied.
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week with flexible weekend work and evening work required.
Reporting to: Childhood Days Board of Directors
Roles and Responsibilities
* Ensure the overall safety and well-being of the children using the service in line with all service policies and procedures.
* Respond to requests for and allocate childcare places, organising waiting lists as needed.
* SUPPORT AND ASSIST PARENTS/GUARDIANS THROUGH EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION.
* Develop and deliver plans by staff tailored to individual children using the service and groups of children where applicable.
* Liaise with HSE and Tusla regarding children and family needs as required, including linking with the HSE special needs coordinator.
* Review and update policies, procedures and protocols as necessary.
* Maintain confidentiality and adhere to GDPR guidelines.
* Act as Designated Liaison Person, ensuring reporting procedures are followed to safeguard child welfare and protection.
Staff Management and Supervision
* Provide general human resource management and daily supervision of the service staff team.
* Implement service plans to benefit children and families who use the service.
* Ensure staff adherence to all relevant service policies, procedures and protocols.
* Conduct regular supervision sessions with each staff member.
* Oversee ongoing staff training and development, including upskilling necessary for duties.
* Responsible for childcare plans.
* Organise staff rosters and annual leave.
* Induct new staff and assess relevant training needs.
* Maintain records.
Financial Management & Planning
* Manage financial income and expenditure accounts on a day-to-day basis.
* Prepare and submit funding applications to various agencies.
* Compile regular financial reports for the Board of Directors.
* Liaise with Pobal, HSE and Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth as required.
* Identify funding streams and implement change.
General Administration / Health & Safety Management
* Maintain up-to-date records of hygiene, equipment checks and maintenance.
* Regularly check online portals and platforms for notifications and submissions.
* Maintain a good standard of hygiene throughout the service.
* Administer medication safely and store it securely, recording and signing off with two staff members. Store and record parent/guardian permissions.
* Report regularly to the Board of Directors for support and direction.
* Submit all reporting requirements to the Board of Directors and outside agencies as necessary.
* Maintain safe and well-maintained equipment.
* Organise fire drills monthly and other health and safety checks regularly.
* Oversee bus maintenance and ensure it remains safe, maintaining relevant documentation in line with RSA requirements.
* Complete any reasonably requested tasks assigned by the Board of Directors.
The Successful Candidate Must Have:
* QQI Level 7 Early Years Education Qualification
* A minimum of three years' experience working directly with children in an Early Learning and Care and/or School Age Childcare Setting or other relevant childcare setting.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Knowledge of IT systems/software packages such as MS Word/Excel.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and policy relevant to Childhood Days.
* Knowledge of HR practices.
* Experience in managing staff and volunteers, staff rosters.
* Experience in office administration and management.
