Clinical Nurse Manager II Emergency Department
Permanent & Temporary Contracts, Full Time Hours
The CNM2 Emergency Department reports to the CNM3 Emergency Department, Assistant Director of Nursing Divisional Lead, and is professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing Mercy University Hospital.
Responsibilities:
* Take responsibility for the clinical environment for the duration of the shifts to ensure the provision of quality patient care by acting as an integral member of the team.
* Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership in all aspects of nursing care.
* Act as positive and accountable role model in providing direct patient care.
* Assess, evaluate, and review the requirements of individual patient needs.
* Collaborate with the CNM3 and ADON in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing services.
* Collaborate with the Bed Management unit to ensure timely and accurate transmission of information in relation to emergency admissions to the wards, from the Emergency Department.
* Establish and maintain caring and therapeutic interpersonal relationships with individuals, clients, groups, and communities.
* Ensure that appropriate mandatory training and professional development programmes are provided for Nursing and Para-nursing staff to meet the learning needs of the organisation, including staff training needs analysis and situation specific service needs.
* Ensure that modern standards of clinical nursing care are in operation and that regular monitoring of Nursing and Para-nursing care is undertaken through audit.
* Use the outcomes of audit to develop action plans and support their implementation.
* Foster a culture of audit and action-based outcomes.
* Monitor recent nursing research and new developments. Initiate, facilitate, and take part in relevant nursing research and promote awareness of ongoing and current research into issues affecting patient care.
* For the extent to which there is patient satisfaction with Nursing /Para-nursing care.
* For the extent to which good working relationships are fostered and maintained throughout the nursing service and between nursing and other disciplines.
* For the effectiveness of performance in relation to Human Resource management and development.
Eligibility Criteria:
* Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland {NMBI}.
* Provide evidence of clinical and professional managerial ability, leadership, communication and organisational skills.
* Have at least 5 years post registration experience of which 2 must be in the specialty area of Emergency Nursing or related area.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Provide evidence of ongoing professional development.
