The Role:
Responsibilities include:
* Overseeing and managing all financial aspects, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
* Developing and maintaining financial policies, procedures, and systems to ensure efficiency and transparency.
* Preparing and monitoring annual budgets in collaboration with department heads, as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the Board of Directors, stakeholders, and donors.
* Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and other relevant legislation.
* Managing the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors, and ensuring timely completion.
* Implementing internal controls to safeguard assets and funds, identifying financial risks, and developing mitigation strategies.
* Overseeing payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant employment legislation.
* Managing grant applications, funding, and financial reporting to donors, adhering to donor guidelines.
* Collaborating with the senior management team to develop long-term financial strategies and contribute to the organization's overall strategic direction.
* Providing financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.
* Identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and potential funding sources.
* Leading and mentoring a small finance team, providing guidance, training, and support for high performance.
Key Requirements:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA) highly desirable.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the non-profit or charity sector.
* Proven experience in budget management, financial analysis, and reporting.
* Familiarity with grant management and donor reporting advantageous.
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and best practices.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
* Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, Quick Books, Sage).
