Ecologist Job Description
About the Role
We are partnering with Ireland's leading Environmental restoration/development body to hire an Ecologist. The position can be based out of several locations in Ireland, including Leitrim, Dublin, or Clare.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conduct ecological background research, desk studies, fieldwork, and biological data collection and interpretation using best practice guidelines and methodologies.
2. Compile Ecological Impact Assessments and Habitats Directive Assessment reports on the likely impacts of proposed capital and maintenance projects, recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
3. Commission ecological assessments as required, manage external consultants, and review outputs.
4. Support the Environment and Heritage Section in conducting/overseeing environmental and heritage studies.
5. Deliver fit for purpose project outputs within set deadlines to support the engineering and technical teams in project delivery.
6. Prepare habitat maps using GIS software.
7. Interact with statutory and non-statutory stakeholders and the public, representing the organization on various committees and forums as required.
Requirements
* A Professional Ecologist
* Strong knowledge of GIS software
* Excellent report writing skills
* Strong communication skills, ability to liaise with local authorities and government departments
This is a hybrid position, with two days on-site per week. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM - 5:30 PM.
