Consultant Physician – Sports & Exercise Medicine
A part-time (0.5), permanent vacancy has arisen for the role of Consultant Physician – Sports & Exercise Medicine. The successful candidate will provide MSK, Sports & Exercise Medicine clinical expertise and services in clinics across Vhi H&W aligned to the overall H&W strategy and vision.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Providing expertise in delivering MSK/SEM services in line with Vhi’s model of care and the principles of integrative medicine.
* Collaborating with relevant individuals/teams across H&W (e.g. Clinical Directors, Operational Leads, national Heads of Discipline, physiotherapy, podiatry, health coaches) to ensure a coordinated approach aligned to the overall H&W strategy and vision.
* Championing clinical excellence and patient-centered healthcare and an integrated approach across Vhi H&W.
* Identifying and supporting the development and implementation of appropriate patient pathways and processes within the MSK/SEM service, Vhi H&W’s other services, and externally.
* Participating in the development of effective clinical governance and ensuring that processes are in place to address clinical effectiveness and outcomes, clinical risk, clinical incidents, patient experience, and complaints.
* Identifying education requirements and opportunities, and providing education to staff, doctors, ANPs, nurses, and physiotherapists.
* Working with the relevant Quality, Safety & Risk (QSR) team members to ensure that the design and delivery of MSK/SEM services adhere to H&W QSR policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines (PPPGs) and external standards/statutory requirements (e.g. HIQA), and overseeing the process to secure and maintain the relevant external accreditation.
* Identifying opportunities to develop the scope and depth of the service offering and new ways of working, and supporting the development of business plans.
The successful candidate must have:
* Full registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners or be eligible for same within six months of application, maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of Sports & Exercise Medicine.
* Experience in service development in SEM.
* Experience delivering care within the Irish health system.
* Experienced clinician with credibility and the ability to command the respect of all clinical and non-clinical professionals.
* Experience developing, applying, and reviewing an evidence-based approach to decision-making.
* Demonstrated effective planning and organizing skills with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks.
* Demonstrated commitment to fostering partnerships and multidisciplinary relationships.
* Demonstrated strong and credible leadership in bringing people together across systems and clinical disciplines, with a proven ability to inspire them to deliver common goals.
* Demonstrated interest in, and advocacy for, preventative medicine and lifestyle health.
* US guided injection techniques (desirable).
* Peer-reviewed research and publications (desirable).
* Demonstrated alignment to Vhi values.
