Murphy Water is the Water & Wastewater process engineering division which delivers municipal water treatment solutions for Water Authorities in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom.
The Project
The successful candidate will work on Murphy Water projects in the Midlands and North Leinster.
The Role
Murphy Water are hiring a Mechanical Fitter Technician to work on the commissioning and maintenance of Water and Wastewater projects across the country. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Contractor. The successful candidate will join the Murphy Water engineering business within the Operations Department reporting to the Operations & Maintenance Manager. Murphy focus on recruiting and retaining our employees so that the company can continue to develop and succeed within the industry. Murphy are committed to developing our staff and our CPD Programme is accredited by Engineers Ireland.
Qualifications required
Candidate must be qualified with a National Craft Certificate or equivalent.
Skills/ Experience
Motivated, self-starter with excellent communications skills
5+ years of proven experience as a Pipefitter after qualification
Focus on Quality and Health & Safety
Problem-solving skills
Strong work ethic
Safe Pass & Manual Handling
Experience within the Water / Wastewater industry a distinct advantage
Full, clean driving licence
Duties
Reporting to the Operations Manager
Assemble, install, and align mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, and pipelines, to support water and wastewater operations.
Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on treatment plant machinery and equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in mechanical systems, replacing or fabricating components as needed.
Read and interpret P&IDs, technical drawings and equipment manuals.
Operate and maintain tools and equipment such as grinders, drills, welding machines, and pipe cutters.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance.
Collaborate with engineers and plant operators to improve system efficiency, minimize downtime and achieve compliance
Preparation of technical specifications and supervision of sub-contractors.
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the company procedures observing proper health and safety.
Be a punctual, motivated, and organised self-starter who is enthusiastic and conscientious about completing work on time and to a high standard.

Hours associated with role:
