The Role and the TeamThe Proofpoint Legal Department is dedicated to providing expert legal advice in a fast-paced business environment and supporting Proofpoint's crucial mission of enabling organizations across the world to protect their most valuable assets, their people and their data, with our people-centric cybersecurity products and services.
This position will be part of the Technology and Products Group in the Legal department.
The Procurement Counsel role is an important part of building the culture and success of the legal function to help drive Proofpoint's growth.
Role Overview:The Procurement Counsel will join a collaborative legal team and will work with cross-functional teams, peers, and staff to advance business objectives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Proofpoint's finance, engineering, marketing, sales, IT and other business units.
The role is based in Cork, Ireland.
Your day-to-dayYou will work with sourcing and vendor management and will provide excellent legal advice, inbound license negotiation, template creation, and training relevant to the procurement process of a SaaS company on multiple subjects, such as: generative-ai, global data privacy, regulatory compliance, open-source, and other contractual terms and contract vehicles.You will respond to requests for advice on legal and regulatory topics, and also research and advise on new laws, regulations and industry guidance that impact your internal clients' business initiatives.You will help drive the design and implementation of appropriate policies to ensure compliance with existing and new legal frameworks, such as continually evolving data protection and privacy laws.You will proactively communicate issues back to management and drive good business, legal and operational processes throughout the organization, and draft and implement related policies.Job RequirementsThe successful candidate will be a highly collaborative, strategic and quick-witted individual with relevant experience in:
Data security and privacy regulations, such as GDPR or CCPA/CPRASaaS services and productsExcellent negotiation skillsStrong writing and drafting skills with keen attention to detailEffective communication in person, in groups, over video and teleconference, over email and in more formal documentationA practical, creative and proactive problem-solver who is confident and calm under fire and a strong team playerThe highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethicsExperience as a licensed attorney
