Your mission
We’re looking for a creative and driven Data Engineer to join our growing product team. As our first data hire, you’ll play a critical role in shaping how Output Sports leverages data to deliver actionable insights and help our users achieve their training goals. Sitting at the intersection of data science and engineering, you’ll work our ever-growing dataset to uncover patterns, improve product functionality, and lay the groundwork for a scalable, high-performing data team.
Your Role Will Include
1. Data Infrastructure: Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and storage solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or equivalent cloud provider.
2. Data Analysis & Insights: Analyze large datasets to uncover insights that drive user progress and engagement.
3. Product Collaboration: Partner with engineering, product, and sport science teams to identify key data needs and integrate data-driven solutions into our platform.
4. Foundational Leadership: Establish best practices for data management, analysis, and engineering to pave the way for a future data team.
5. Communicate Insights: Translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For
1. 4+ years in data science, data engineering or a hybrid both.
2. 1+ years working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
3. Experience leading a key project or data initiative.
Your Key Skills
1. Expertise in building and maintaining data pipelines and managing large-scale datasets.
2. Strong programming skills in Python (or a similar language) for data manipulation and analysis.
3. Proficiency in SQL, with experience in relational databases and NoSQL databases.
4. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., GitHub) and cloud-based tools.
5. Ability to distill complex data into clear, actionable insights and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
6. Self-starter capable of thriving in a fast-paced, iterative startup environment.
7. Experience working collaboratively within a highly skilled engineering team.
