Job Description Stakraft is looking for a Marine and Fisheries Advisor to join our Cork team.
The fishing community and marine users have been recognised as key stakeholders on our offshore wind energy projects from the outset.

The role will work with internal and external stakeholders in the marine environment to develop, lead and implement proactive and collaborative engagement with the local fishing industry including the development of sustainability related initiatives whilst also ensuring marine regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate should be passionate about the marine environment, a good communicator with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and able to exercise initiative.
Your main responsibilities at a project level will include: Working with key project personnel, build on Startkraft's committed approach to delivering proactive fisheries engagement Foster and develop a collaborative approach to the development of positive fisheries industry and community relationships working with key stakeholders internally and externally Develop an in depth understanding of the local fishing industry and wider fisheries community, identifying both challenges and opportunities in the context of offshore renewables development Work with the sustainability manager to assist in embedding sustainability into the wider offshore projects Oversee the management of regulatory affairs as they relate to development activities in the marine space and, working with 3rd parties, provide advice on marine requirements Coordinate and/or deliver the development of sustainability and marine engagement related plans and templates as required including sustainability initiatives, stakeholder management plans and sustainability management plans Manage, coordinate and track fisheries engagement and the implementation of sustainability measures Assist in the development of biodiversity related initiatives Identify opportunities to promote the communication of sustainability initiatives.
Proactively engage with the communications team to educate and raise awareness of sustainability matters engaging with 3rd party stakeholders as appropriate Report on progress of initiatives Qualifications A passion for delivering sustainable practices in the marine environment including working with various stakeholders to achieve this.
A practical understanding of Irish fisheries and Irish fisheries practices with a genuine interest in developing and supporting the sustainability of Irish fisheries Experience in the marine space and a good understanding of marine regulatory requirements would be desirable Minimum 3 years relevant professional work experience Excellent communications skills and problem solving abilities Strong team working skills coupled with ability to work off of own initiative Experience in stakeholder management, fisheries, marine biology, or other related fields desirable.
Knowledge and experience of working with a broad range of stakeholders in developing projects and implementing initiatives Experience working in both community and corporate environments would be an advantage, including supporting decision-making and contributing to the development of buy in to initiatives Experience overseeing the implementation of initiatives across multiple internal and external stakeholders.

You will be required to be in the office three days per week.
