We have partnered with a fast growing and ambitious business looking to appoint a Group Financial Controller to play a pivotal role in their finance function. Reporting directly to the Finance Director and working closely with the senior leadership team, this is a high-impact role suited to a commercially astute individual who thrives in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will drive financial strategy, enhance reporting processes, and support business decision making as the company continues its growth journey.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Reporting to and supporting the Finance Director in the performance and strategic development of the finance function.
2. Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, as well as other financial reports for review.
3. Maintaining and overseeing checks and balances on various nominal ledger accounts in line with month-end procedures.
4. Taking full responsibility for the oversight of Group payroll, supplier, and subcontractor functions.
5. Leading and developing a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of growth and efficiency. Managing a team of four accounts staff.
6. Reviewing and authorising payment files on online banking platforms.
7. Ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including VAT, tax, and other obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
8. Preparing annual budgets and short- and long-term cash flow forecasts.
9. Collaborating with the commercial department to ensure the accuracy of various rates used for project estimations.
10. Preparing financial information for external auditors as part of the annual audit process.
11. Liaising with third-party organisations such as external auditors, tax advisers, and global payroll advisers as required.
12. Aligning financial strategies with long-term business objectives, enhancing financial systems, and streamlining processes to improve reporting and efficiency.
13. Driving the Finance department’s KPIs and monthly reporting.
Skills & Qualifications:
1. ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualified.
2. Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role.
3. Proven ability to manage and mentor teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Results-driven, proactive, and commercially aware, with high levels of integrity and a commitment to continuous improvement.
5. Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
6. Experience working in a multi-currency and multi-jurisdictional environment is advantageous.
7. Strong leadership, supervisory, and managerial abilities.
8. Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
9. Highly organised with strong time management skills.
10. A collaborative team player.
11. A full, valid driving licence.
