The Purpose of This Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Scientist Quality and I.T Coordinator to oversee quality assurance initiatives and maintain I.T systems within our laboratory.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and improving laboratory processes through effective quality management and technological support.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the required qualifications for a Senior Medical Scientist as stipulated by the HSE: (Ref HSE Grade Code 3877) and by the Department of Health Registration as a Medical Scientist with CORU is essential.
Applicants must be eligible for Fellowship membership of The Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine.
Experience
We are seeking a candidate with 3 years or more clinical post-qualification experience as a Medical Scientist in multidisciplinary or blood sciences laboratory.
Proficient in I.T systems relevant to laboratory operations, data management, and automation.
2 years' experience of operational involvement with a quality management system including document control.
In-depth knowledge of laboratory accreditation standards and quality assurance practices.
Any postgraduate degree in IT or scientific would be desirable but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform the appropriate duties of a Medical Scientist, under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager.
* Perform all activities related to the receipt, analysis and reporting of laboratory specimens.
* Lead and coordinate quality management activities within the laboratory to ensure compliance with relevant accreditation standards (ISO 15189, etc.).
* Participate in the implementation of a 'quality management' programme, which is patient centred and which measures and audits performance and key stakeholders' satisfaction.
* Implement and maintain quality assurance protocols and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Develop and oversee laboratory I.T systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and user accessibility.
* To optimise the use of the Laboratory Information System in conjunction with end users and laboratory staff.
* To co-ordinate operational use to assure successful interfacing between the Laboratory Information System, Hospital Information System and/or interface engine or hub.
* Effective management of data and records contained in both computer and non-computerised systems.
* Conduct regular audits and evaluations of laboratory processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for I.T related issues within the laboratory, liaising with the I.T department as needed.
* Prepare and maintain documentation for quality assurance and I.T compliance, ensuring all records are up-to-date and accurate.
