Purchasing & Logistics Administrator
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the Northwest, is seeking a Purchasing & Logistics Administrator to join their team in Grange, County Sligo. As a Purchasing & Logistics Administrator, you will collaboratively work with our projects and design teams. You will source, negotiate, and purchase materials, components, and equipment for all engineering projects. You will work closely alongside engineers and project managers in both our sites in the UK and Ireland to understand technical specifications, quality requirements, and project timelines within budget.
Responsibilities:
* Source and select suppliers based on quality, price, and product lead times.
* Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure advantageous agreements.
* Collaborate with project & design teams to understand project requirements and timelines.
* Review technical specifications to ensure all purchased products meet requirements.
* Monitor inventory levels and manage the supply chain to prevent shortages.
* Review and evaluate supplier lists and performance to address issues and concerns.
* Maintain an accurate database of purchasing, pricing, and lead times.
* Actively participate in vendor assessment and selection.
* Identify new suppliers and build & maintain good relationships with them.
* Assist with the development and implementation of procurement policies and procedures.
* Drive continuous improvement within the planning area to enhance operational excellence and financial performance.
* Work alongside the stores department to ensure required stock levels align with projects and timelines.
* Liaise with logistics partners to ensure smooth operation of transport of stock, materials, and finished products.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
* 3rd level degree or equivalent experience in either Engineering, Business, Finance, or Supply Chain.
* Proven experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
* Experienced negotiator.
* Experience managing a wide range of vendors and suppliers.
* Experience with import and export functions.
* Hands-on engineering/manufacturing experience is a distinct advantage.
* Strong commercial acumen.
* Working knowledge of purchasing systems, platforms, and processes.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings.
* Experience in planning/scheduling logistics and shipment of products, both incoming and outgoing.
* MS Office proficiency and SAP experience desirable.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
