**Job Title:** Assistant Data Protection Officer
A leading energy organisation is seeking an Assistant Data Protection Officer for a two-year fixed-term contract. The role will be based in Dublin City Centre, working on a hybrid office/remote basis with occasional travel to the Cork office.
The Assistant Data Protection Officer will report to the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and support the delivery and implementation of a Data Protection service across the organisation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of the Data Protection strategy across the organisation.
- Provide guidance to the business on Data Protection compliance.
- Conduct risk assessments for projects, evaluating Data Protection & privacy-related risks.
- Assist the business in conducting Data Privacy Impact Assessments.
- Investigate any Data Protection-related complaints and inquiries.
- Investigate any alleged data breaches.
- Manage and maintain registers associated with Data Protection compliance requirements.
- Oversee Data Subject Requests and Data Subject Rights Requests, including triaging, liaison with Data Champions, relevant business stakeholders, and IT, and preparing and issuing final responses.
- Develop and deliver ongoing Data Protection awareness programs and in-house training.
- Actively participate in relevant data governance groups.
- Define monthly Data Protection KPIs and metrics related to functional activities.
- Undertake other data/privacy operational tasks as assigned.
- Keep current on emerging developments in Data Protection & privacy impacts and implications.
- Manage Freedom of Information (FOI) & Access to Information on the Environment (AIE) requests, including triage, liaison with business stakeholders, and preparing and issuing final responses.
Requirements:
- Previous operational data protection experience is desirable.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a role requiring the application of analytical skills and sound judgment.
- Ability to think and act independently is critical to this role.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Detail-oriented with a technical aptitude.
- Proven ability to manage tasks from start to completion.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver high-quality work within tight timelines.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to translate complex data protection terminology into practical business activities.
- Strong organisational skills, with project management experience would be advantageous.
