As a Formulation Chemist, you will play a key role in the development and optimisation of pharmaceutical dosage forms, from target product profile to technology transfer into manufacturing. The candidate will apply Quality by Design principles, adhering to VICH Guidelines and global regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and optimise dosage forms, including oral tablets, sterile injectables, and topical solutions.
2. Conduct risk assessments to identify Product Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs).
3. Optimise manufacturing processes and identify Critical Process Parameters (CPPs) and Critical Material Attributes (CMAs).
4. Support scale-up and tech transfer to operations.
5. Perform laboratory-based manufacturing and analysis to drive product development.
6. Prepare regulatory submission documents, adhering to guidelines (e.g., (V)ICH, Ph. Eur., USP).
7. Evaluate product in-process controls, compile control strategies, and draft Pharmaceutical Development reports.
8. Maintain records, SOPs, and formulation records while mentoring staff in processes and techniques.
9. Collaborate with R&D, Operations, and QC teams to advance product development and improvement initiatives.
What we are looking for:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in a chemistry or pharmacy related discipline
2. At least 3 years’ experience, post undergraduate qualification, in industry or academia related to formulation and product development
3. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite in particular ability to trend data using an appropriate statistical package e.g. Minitab, Excel
4. Enthusiastic and hard-working individual, highly motivated to achieve technical targets with ability to multitask
5. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
6. Strong communication skills with a demonstrable record of working as a team and cross-functionally
7. Experience of physical test analysis
