We are seeking a highly motivated Operations Shift Manager to oversee the smooth operation of a high-volume food manufacturing facility. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong background in production management, food safety, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team, driving key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensuring that quality, safety, and efficiency standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership & Performance Management
1. Take full ownership of shift operations, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining high standards in quality, efficiency, and waste reduction.
2. Set and monitor KPIs in collaboration with the Operations Manager, providing clear reporting on performance.
3. Manage real-time decision-making on shift-related challenges, such as equipment downtime, supply chain disruptions, and process inefficiencies.
4. Drive production flow optimization, minimizing changeovers and maximizing yields.
5. Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team to achieve production goals.
6. Conduct pre-shift briefings, communicating daily objectives and expectations.
7. Manage staffing levels, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
8. Ensure all production activities meet internal and external quality and food safety standards.
9. Maintain compliance with BRC, HACCP, GMP, and company-specific quality assurance processes.
10. Conduct regular quality checks, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
11. Champion hygiene and sanitation protocols across all areas of production.
Continuous Improvement & Problem-Solving
1. Identify and implement efficiency improvements to streamline production processes.
2. Use data-driven decision-making to enhance performance and reduce operational waste.
3. Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to drive site-wide improvements.
Key Skills & Experience:
Essential:
1. Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a food manufacturing or high-volume production environment.
2. Strong understanding of operational efficiency, food safety, and quality assurance standards.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced production setting.
4. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
1. Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
2. Familiarity with BRC, HACCP, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
