Organisation information:
The NDRDATF is one of ten Regional Drug & Alcohol Task Forces in Ireland established in 2003 under the National Drugs Strategy (NDS). Its purpose is to facilitate a more effective response in areas with high levels of substance misuse and involve those directly affected in developing area-based strategies. The NDRDATF and its sub-structures include members from community, voluntary, statutory sectors, public representatives, and key interest groups, working collectively to address substance misuse in the North Dublin region, broadly aligned with the Fingal Local Authority area of north county Dublin.
This partnership work aligns with the goals outlined in the National Drug & Alcohol Strategy, Reducing Harm Supporting Recovery. The Terms of Reference for Drugs and Alcohol Task Forces include:
1. To coordinate the implementation of the National Drugs Strategy considering regional/local needs.
2. To implement specific actions of the National Drugs Strategy assigned to the Task Forces.
3. To promote evidence-based local/regional drug and alcohol strategies and share best practices.
4. To support and enhance community-based responses to drug and alcohol misuse.
5. To maintain an updated overview of drug and alcohol misuse in the area/region.
6. To identify emerging issues, report on them, and advocate for necessary policies or actions.
7. To monitor, evaluate, and assess funded projects, ensuring their relevance and recommending funding adjustments as needed.
To deliver on an area-based drug and alcohol strategy, the NDRDATF coordinates various projects, services, and interventions across North Dublin.
Responsibilities of a Legal Charity Trustee include:
o Contributing to the strategic direction with insight, oversight, and experience from the community and voluntary sector.
o Acting as Legal Counsel, advising on legal matters and best practices.
o Assisting in creating strategic plans compliant with current legislation and practices.
Desirable skills:
o Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or legal professional with experience in legislation governing not-for-profit companies, charities, and employment law.
