Position Summary
To manage the Plant Maintenance Department, ensuring all work (predictive, preventative, and repair) is properly planned and carried out in such a way as to maintain the Marble Hill Plant at optimum levels of production with minimum downtime. To supervise Maintenance Department non-exempt hourly personnel. Must be able to support a 24-hour operation.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
* Directly lead and supervise the Plant Maintenance mechanics, electricians, and Lube Tech.
* Continually work to help develop the knowledge and skills of Maintenance Department personnel by identifying training needs and actively working to strengthen those areas. Maintains all EHS&S critical equipment in accordance with regulatory and good engineering practices.
* Maintains all HSMS critical equipment in accordance with HSMS/ISO procedures and good engineering practices.
* Responsible for knowledge of the basics of the regulations, codes, and laws affecting assigned work areas and ensure that all regulations, codes, and laws are followed.
* Responsible for investigating all EHS&S incidents or concerns to management for resolution.
* Knowledgeable of and responsible for adhering to Management of Change procedures when evaluating and executing work orders.
* Performs plant walk-through inspections routinely as needed throughout the day. This includes investigation of any new work orders by means of talking with operators, inspection of equipment, etc.
* Assist mechanics and/or electricians in the field to evaluate and approve safe work permits as well as help troubleshoot work orders.
* Utilize Root Cause Analysis to determine the root cause of equipment failures and execute actionable items to correct.
* Organizes and prioritizes the daily Mechanical and Electrical work order lists in Oracle EAM each morning before the workday begins, and as needed throughout the day.
* Conducts daily safety meetings (“safety minute”) each morning and provides ongoing direction to the Maintenance Department to assure development of a safety culture in support of the Marble Hill Vision.
* Provides direct supervision of Maintenance Department personnel: Ensures employees are punctual regarding workday start/end and breaks. Ensures employees are busy and productive throughout the workday by knowing what each employee is working on at all times, by “making the rounds” throughout the day to each job in progress, and by providing encouragement and instruction as needed.
* Responsible for a variety of record keeping and reports such as employee time sheets, closing out completed work orders, plant housekeeping inspections, entering follow-up work orders, etc.
* Ensures that the Maintenance Shop and associated areas are kept clean and well organized, and that all job sites are left in better condition (housekeeping-wise) than found.
* Ensures that required spare parts are properly stocked at adequate levels. Makes recommendations regarding which spare parts should be stocked, and at what levels.
* PPE requirements include hard hat, safety glasses, high-vis, gloves, steel-toed shoes when in manufacturing areas. Ear plugs are required as posted in the facility.
* Performs periodic employee evaluations. Initiates employee discipline as needed. Makes recommendations regarding employee hiring, termination, and promotions.
* Be familiar with the Environmental Management System, Change Management System, policy and procedures, and the potential consequences of departure from specified operating procedures.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
* A minimum of 10 years experience in industrial maintenance, with exposure to both mechanical and electrical disciplines.
* At least 3 years supervisory experience.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Intermediate computer knowledge/skills.
* Maintenance experience in the Chemical Process Industries is desirable.
* Experience with CMMS is desirable.
Physical Requirements
* Must be able to work approximately 25%-35% sitting in an office environment (conditioned) working at a computer as well as 65% - 75% in a manufacturing plant floor environment walking the plant, climbing multiple levels of stairs, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders while exposed to heat, cold, dirt/dust, noise (required hearing protection in indicated areas) as well as mobile vehicle traffic (fork trucks, Kubotas, mobile lifts, etc).
* Must be able to work in outside environments exposed to hot and cold conditions, wet (sometimes rain), and other ambient conditions approximately 20% - 30% of the time.
* Must be able to enter permit-required confined spaces when required for job evaluation and troubleshooting exposed to climbing up and down ladders, bending, working in small spaces and on uneven surfaces < 5% of the time.
* Must be able to access elevated locations by ladders and stairs as needed for job evaluation, troubleshooting, maintenance support, and evaluation of safe work permits approximately 40%-50% of the time.
