We are currently seeking a Solidworks Development Technician to join their Design/Technical Team. You will lead a project to implement bespoke joinery software by developing experience and knowledge of the package and in turn producing a 3D customised design library for Specialist Group to create production-ready drawings with ease, providing innovative design, manufacturing, and automation solutions for the company. The role will then become one of further advanced development and training of other team members.

Responsibilities
System Development: SG have embarked on the journey to evolve from 2D AutoCAD drawings to a Solidworks based product called SWOOD. You will be tasked with converting our existing 2D library into 3D models in SWOOD. These will then require components inputs and machining coordination all bespoke to SG construction methods.
Annotation Management: Populate 3D models with essential annotation data and specifications, ensuring that all components are correctly tagged and categorised.
Quality Control: Check models & drawings for accuracy and adherence to company standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with members of the design & production teams to ensure that the 3D modelling aligns with company requirements.
Development: Shadow experienced technicians to gain hands-on experience on our design processes to learn and develop into utilising 3D software.
Training: At an appropriate time in the future, you will be tasked with training others on the SWOOD system and advanced practices.
Skills and Competencies
Drawing Management: Ensuring the software has ease of populating and managing project drawings, as well as ensuring drawing numbering/revisions are in line with document control requirements.
2D & 3D Modelling: The ability to develop detailed 2D drawings into 3D models from provided information, sketches or verbal instructions.
QA Checks: Ability to carry out internal QA checks on models and drawings.
Communication: Ability to convey ideas, updates, and issues effectively with internal team members.
Problem-Solving: Capacity to address challenges, find solutions to modelling issues, and resolve clashes.
Teamwork: Collaborate well with colleagues, understanding the importance of collective project goals over individual tasks.
