The Farm: This is a great farm near Kilmacthomas in the heart of Co. Waterford. Running 330 British Friesian Spring calving cows, the farm has ambitious plans to continuously upgrade herd metrics and performance.
The Role: We are looking for an Assistant Herd Manager to take charge of all aspects of the ongoing herd improvement programme. The successful applicant will work closely with the farm owners to achieve herd objectives, with significant scope to shape the overall direction of the enterprise. Key areas of focus will include soil health, nutrient management, grassland management, grass measurement, milk yield, milk quality, animal health, reproductive performance, and parlour hygiene.
The Applicant: A successful applicant will need to be confident in their experience to contribute solidly to achieving the outlined objectives. They should demonstrate previous achievements in these areas and have the ability to work well in a small, close-knit team that is not afraid to challenge its members to optimise group performance. Effective communication in English and a current driving licence are required.
