Our client, a leading pharmaceutical company within a private group, is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join their Board of Directors. As they establish their presence in the Irish market and expand into the EU, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape the company's growth trajectory.
Position Overview
This position involves providing strategic guidance, governance, and oversight as the company sets up in Ireland. Working alongside a diverse and experienced Board, you will leverage your expertise to support the company's operational, financial, and commercial goals.
Main Responsibilities
* Strategic Guidance: Contribute to the development and oversight of the company's strategic direction, particularly regarding market entry and expansion in Ireland.
* Governance and Compliance: Ensure the company's activities align with corporate governance best practices and comply with Irish regulatory frameworks and industry standards.
* Financial Oversight: Review and monitor the company's financial performance, risk management strategies, and resource allocation.
* Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to the Irish market and contribute to risk mitigation strategies.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Act as an ambassador for the company, establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, industry partners, and investors.
* Market Insights: Provide insights on trends, risks, and opportunities within the European biotechnology landscape.
* Executive Support: Advise and support the executive team, offering constructive feedback and mentorship.
Requirements
* Industry Knowledge: Proven track record in the biotechnology, life sciences, or healthcare sector, with a deep understanding of the Irish and European regulatory environment.
* Board Experience: Previous experience serving as a director or advisor on a corporate, non-profit, or public sector board.
* Strategic Acumen: Demonstrated ability to contribute to the formulation and execution of growth strategies, particularly in market entry and expansion.
* Financial Literacy: Professional Qualification: Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or equivalent qualification with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Irish environment Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Irish and EU corporate governance standards, legal requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
* Leadership: Ability to inspire and influence executive teams and stakeholders at the highest levels.
* Integrity: A commitment to ethical leadership, transparency, and accountability.
Additional Information
The estimated time commitment is approximately 8-10 days per year. An appropriate remuneration package will be offered, reflecting the seniority and scope of the role.
