Salary: €14,771
Job Title: Community Development Worker for Older People Services.
Responsible To: The Development Worker will be responsible to the coordinator on a day-to-day basis and to the Management Committee of the Family Resource Centre.
Overall Purpose of Job: To enhance the lives of Older People in east Limerick by connecting them to inclusive social supports within their own communities.
Key Areas of Work:
Delivery of Services to Older People
* Support volunteer groups in the east Limerick area to deliver a yearly calendar of events across the east Limerick area for Older People in the community.
* The identification of local needs of Older People.
* Organise bookings, assess venues, and transport to ensure Older People have access to social supports such as mini breaks, shopping trips, networking events, and day trips in partnership with local volunteers.
* Undertake risk assessments in advance of delivering activities to groups.
* Organise training for volunteers who support this work area.
* Work in partnership with agencies to provide essential services to Older People living rurally, such as transport, information provision, and training.
Administration
* Responsible for keeping all records as required by Hospital FRC.
* Write relevant reports to funding agencies on the work undertaken.
* Liaise with the coordinator in writing up the Annual Report and other reports as required.
* Deal with appropriate correspondence.
* Use Microsoft Office for financial, administrative, and reporting tasks.
* Access and use the internet and email for contacting other projects and carrying out administrative tasks.
Policy
* Identify and address underlying policy lessons and issues emerging from areas of work.
* Constantly review policy and procedures of Hospital Family Resource Centre and draw up policies in conjunction with the coordinator and the management committee.
* Participate in and develop relevant links/networks to enable the project to influence policy and liaise with relevant programmes operating regionally or nationally.
* Research and submit funding applications to support work activities.
General
* Work with other staff as part of a team.
* Attend supervision in accordance with the project’s policy on support and supervision.
* Submit a written monthly work report to the management committee.
* Maintain confidentiality in line with the project policy on confidentiality and procedures.
* Undertake other relevant duties as requested by the Project Coordinator and/or the Management Committee.
* Participate in any training programme that will enhance the skills required for the job as required by the Management Committee.
* Plan and evaluate own and FRC’s work as required by the Management Committee.
The successful applicant will be required to work some unsocial hours and occasional weekend work. Flexibility will be required in working with other staff and the management committee in the context of an expanding project.
