LimerickNumber of Hours: 15Salary: €14,771Job Title: Community Development Worker for Older People Services.Responsible To: The Development Worker will be responsible to the coordinator on a day-to-day basis and to the Management Committee of the Family Resource Centre.Overall Purpose of Job: To enhance the lives of Older People in east Limerick by connecting them to inclusive social supports within their own communities.Key Areas of Work:Delivery of Services to Older PeopleSupport volunteer groups in the east Limerick area to deliver a yearly calendar of events across the east Limerick area for Older People in the community.The identification of local needs of Older People.
Organise bookings, assess venues, transport to ensure Older People have access to social supports in their own communities such as mini break, shopping trips, networking evets, day trips etc.
in partnership with local volunteers.Undertaking risk assessments in advance of delivering activities to groups.
Organise training for volunteers who support this work area.Work in partnership with agencies to provide essential services to Older People living rurally such as transport, information provision and training.
AdministrationHe/she is responsible for keeping all records as required by Hospital FRC Write relevant reports to funding agencies on the work undertaken.Liaise with the coordinator in writing up the Annual Report and other reports as required.Deal with appropriate correspondence.Use of Microsoft Office in carrying out financial, administrative and reporting tasks.Accessing and using internet and e-mail in contacting other projects and carrying out administrative tasks.PolicySeek to identify and address underlying policy lessons and issues emerging from areas of workHe/she is expected to constantly review policy and procedures of Hospital Family Resource Centre and to draw up policies in conjunction with the coordinator and the management committee.He/she is expected to participate in and develop relevant links/ networks to enable the project to influence policy and liaise with relevant programmes operating either regionally or nationally.He/she is expected to research and submit funding applications to support the work activities.FundraisingGeneralWorking with other staff as part of a team.Attending supervision in accordance with the project's policy on support and supervision.Submitting a written monthly work report to the management committee.Maintaining confidentiality in line with the project policy on confidentiality and procedures.Undertake other relevant duties as requested from time to time by the Project Coordinator and/or the Management Committee.Participating in any training programme that will enhance the skills required for the job as required by the Management Committee.Planning and evaluation of own and FRC's work as required by the Management Committee.
The successful applicant will be required to work some unsocial hours and occasional weekend work.Flexibility will be required in working with other staff and management committee in the context of an expanding project.
