Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Automation Engineer to join a forward-thinking European technology and engineering team in Limerick. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the development, commissioning, and ongoing support of automation and control systems. This position involves designing, programming, testing, and optimising automation solutions while working closely with vendors and OEMs to ensure efficient and innovative system implementation.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, specify, program, and validate automation and control systems.
* Oversee system simulation, testing, and commissioning to ensure optimal performance.
* Collaborate with external vendors and OEMs to integrate automation solutions.
* Maintain and troubleshoot automation platforms, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
* Implement and validate pharmaceutical automated processes in a GMP-regulated environment.
* Support SCADA, control systems, and vision systems, ensuring seamless integration.
* Work with packaging equipment, Cognex, and serialisation systems to enhance production efficiency.
* Manage SQL database systems for real-time data collection and analysis.
* Utilise IT and networking expertise to optimise system performance and reliability.
Required Skills & Experience
* Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a focus on software, electrical, electronic, or automation disciplines.
* Minimum of 5 years’ industry experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or GMP manufacturing environments.
* Strong expertise in Allen Bradley and/or Siemens (Step7) PLC systems.
* Proficiency in SCADA, control systems, and vision technologies.
* Knowledge of packaging equipment, Cognex vision systems, and serialisation is highly desirable.
* Experience with SQL databases for real-time process monitoring is an advantage.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated industry.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
