Responsibilities:
1. Manage fresh produce supplier & grower database to ensure accurate information is held and assist to eliminate gaps.
2. Data gathering, through supplier contact and relationship building.
3. Tracking, reviewing, and evaluating completed Supplier Due Diligence assessments.
4. Ensure the timely approval of new suppliers.
5. Carry out supplier performance assessments.
6. Escalate issues with suppliers and raise complaints as needed.
7. Manage product testing (microbiological and pesticide analysis) as per schedule.
8. Gather ethical, pesticide and certification information for suppliers and produce supplied.
9. Work with attention to detail across all technical/compliance platforms.
10. Support all internal and external audits and customer visits as required.
11. Encourage and help drive the site’s food safety culture to help prevent deviations in the process that affect the safety, quality, and legality of our products.
12. Additional tasks as required by the Technical Manager.
Skills & Experience Required:
1. Good experience of supplier approval and due diligence requirements for major retailers, food service, or major manufacturers is essential.
2. Exposure to certification/approval processes and retailer platforms is a distinct advantage (e.g., GFSI standards; Leaf Marque; Telus Supply Chain).
3. Previous experience working in the food industry and HACCP knowledge.
4. Knowledge and understanding of current food regulation and legislation surrounding pesticides.
5. Excellent administration and IT skills, with high attention to detail.
6. Self-motivated.
7. Good communication, interpersonal, and customer relations skills.
8. Methodical/meticulous approach to work but flexible enough to meet the changing needs of the business.
9. Educated to a degree level in food science, food safety management, or related discipline is desirable.
10. Experience gained within Fresh Produce would be highly advantageous.
