Job Description:
We currently have an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our Raw Materials Chemistry team in Dungarvan Co. Waterford. The purpose of this job is to carry out reagent preparation and perform required laboratory tasks (lab support) to ensure the area functions efficiently and company quality and accuracy standards are upheld.
Job Responsibilities
* Perform competently all activities for which training has been completed.
* Be responsible for proficiency in certain procedures/training modules as specified in their training plan.
* Act on their own initiative to ensure efficiencies in the laboratory and that client needs are being met, including reorder of stock and housekeeping activities to ensure labs are in optimal working conditions.
* Perform reagent/solution preparation.
* Perform techniques/tests that they are qualified to do in terms of completed training records and as directed by the laboratory senior.
* Train other lab technicians/laboratory assistants if and when required on techniques/tests for which they have approved training records.
* Provide cover for other members of staff as required and as training allows.
* Keep their training records up to date and initiate training as per their training plan where possible when free from work.
* Adhere to all company standards in the area of safety, housekeeping, and quality, notifying management of any discrepancies.
* Be flexible to provide customer service when required, including additional working hours, overtime, and weekend work.
* Identify opportunities for improvement of quality and service and work with the team to implement continuous improvement.
* Participate in the company On-Call/Call out rota as required.
* Shift change may be required depending on the needs of the laboratory, including a change in working days and/or daily shift hours.
* Raise and implement process improvements as appropriate.
Qualifications
* Level 6 qualification in scientific discipline plus a minimum of 6 months post-graduate GMP laboratory experience.
