We have an exciting opportunity due to internal progression for an experienced Assistant Financial Controller in the Clayton Hotel Galway.

Assistant Financial Controller
The Assistant Financial Controller will assist in ensuring the efficient and effective running of the finance function within the hotel. This will include management of controls and compliance, ensuring reporting is maintained to a high standard, and providing business acumen to parties both within and outside the finance function to mitigate risk and seize opportunities. They will partner with the Financial Controller and General Manager, along with other non-finance related disciplines to deliver on the overall objectives of the business.
The Main Focus Areas Include
Commercial Focus
* Reviewing costs and implementing processes where savings can be made.
* Working closely with other hotel departments to ensure understanding of KPIs.
* Reviewing margins and highlighting where improvements can be made.
* Preparation and review of weekly revenue and payroll forecasts.
* A prominent role in the month-end process.
* Championing weekly/daily meetings and interactions with Heads of Department.
People Focus
* Supporting and becoming a key advisor to both the Financial Controller and the General Manager.
* Assisting in writing and implementing training plans and courses for non-financial managers within the hotel.
* Helping to gain a better understanding of financial issues in conjunction with the Financial Controller.
* Building relationships with other Heads of Department and staff within the hotel.
Controls and Compliance
* Ensuring all financial controls and procedures across the hotel are robust, sustainable, maintained, and updated.
* Examining Internal Audit Reports and agreeing on corrective actions.
* Championing the use of technology for more effective and efficient business practices.
Month End
* Preparing the Month-end lead schedule.
* Reconciling balance sheet control accounts including accruals and prepayments.
* Managing Income Audit to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
* Engaging with the Shared Service Centre and utilizing technology effectively.
* Managing the collection of debts on a timely basis.
