Job Purpose
The Safety Support Engineer is responsible for the support and development of safety and safety management within the Technical Services Directorate at all Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) units.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Support the Unit Safety Manager (USM) Technical Services and Technical Services Management Team with the implementation of the safety aspects of the detailed technical services work programme set by the Air Traffic Management Planning Group & the General Manager Technical Services to achieve the strategic goals of Technical Services. In particular support the Technical Domains with the safety aspects of individual ANSP projects.
* Ensure the provision of timely advice, guidance, support to all safety risk assessments and endorsement activities for system safety case report production including the review of extant safety cases that are the responsibility of Technical Services.
* Support the USM Technical Services with the compliance monitoring function (as required by regulation including EU Reg 2017/373) within the Directorate including the management of compliance matrices for extant regulations as they apply to Technical Services.
* Safety Occurrence Investigations: Support the tracking and management of occurrence investigations including the monitoring of investigation timeframes as detailed in extant regulations and the IAA Safety Investigation of Occurrence Manual. Reporting any anomalies to the USM Technical Services for action as necessary.
* Support safety management activities, as directed by the USM Technical Services, to fully meet the requirements of the Safety Management System.
* Audit Findings & Observations: For internal, regulatory and Safety Management Unit (SMU) audits, track the timely implementation of corrective action plans of audit findings and Observations, reporting to the USM Technical Services issues in terms of timelines and completion of actions within agreed timeframes.
* Support the training activities within the Technical Services Directorate in particular the safety training requirements for Air Traffic Safety Electronic Personnel (ATSEP) as detailed in the ATSEP Framework and in the SMU Training Plan.
* Attend & participate in the Unit Safety Management Committees of the operational units as required or directed.
* Attend international fora on Air Traffic Management safety as required.
* Any other duties appropriate to the role.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills
Essential:
* Third level qualification in an engineering and/or safety and human factors discipline.
* An understanding of safety management.
* Knowledge of relevant EU regulations.
* Clear understanding of the Company, customers and regulatory environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent presentation and reporting writing skills and meticulous attention to detail.
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
Desirable:
* Demonstrable knowledge of safety management, security management, risk assessment and safety cases, occurrence investigation, audit, regulation and compliance, process improvement, business intelligence and analytics, and Human Factors.
* Proven safety management experience.
* Knowledge of Cyber Security.
