Senior Cost Engineer is responsible for analysing project data and creating detailed cost estimates. This includes assessing the cost of labour, materials, equipment, and other resources within the QS team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the preparation and agreement of final accounts, including the handling of any claims to ensure the client gets best value from works undertaken.
2. Support project management with clear decisions through excellent cost documentation and timely communication running what-if scenarios.
3. Support the settlement of construction disputes/loss and expense claims with transparency.
4. Interact with the engineering team, procurement, quality, manufacturing, marketing, and suppliers.
5. Coordinate project activities with various functions such as marketing, quality, and manufacturing.
6. Perform quantity surveys from construction documents and physical site inspections.
7. Analyse construction cost data and design drawings.
8. Anticipate cost overages and prepare cost exception reports.
9. Calculate part prices and tooling investments for new and ongoing projects.
10. Communicate technical updates to suppliers related to cost drivers and investments.
11. Conduct frequent visits to suppliers and technical exhibitions to stay informed about product methods and materials.
We would love to hear from you if you:
1. Have experience as a senior cost manager/Engineer/Estimator.
2. Have experience in post-contract cost management in budget control, cost planning, preparing and initiating change forms for discussion with project stakeholders while being knowledgeable on alternative construction materials.
3. Have a degree or comparable experience in a project management or construction discipline.
4. Are an excellent communicator verbally and in writing.
5. Love a dynamic environment with the opportunity to manage your own priorities and deadlines.
