The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre (TSEAC) is an award-winning performance arts venue, offering a diverse range of cultural experiences including live music performances, cinema, comedy, and cultural events, while also working to develop the artistic talents of others through our range of workshops and thriving music school.
Steeped in Irish history, The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre’s unique and intimate performance space is regarded as ‘A hidden Gem’ in the Irish culture scene, offering the opportunity to fully experience every show in a way that maintains the historic culture and delivery of traditional folklore and storytelling.
About the Position:
The position is offered on a temporary contract to cover the current Director’s maternity leave. It is essential that the post holder has a full clean driving licence and access to a car.
Responsibilities:
The Director of The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre will be accountable for the following:
1. Overall performance, management, and day-to-day running of The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre.
2. Lead on the delivery of the strategic plan for 2024-2028.
3. Manage the annual budget effectively and efficiently.
4. Ensure the sustainability of The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre by securing funding and sponsorship for future events and activities.
5. Report to the Board on performance against the Strategic Plan, annual business plan, and budget.
6. Work with the Board, partners, and stakeholders on issues as they arise.
7. Leadership and management of the staff of The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre.
8. Meet development targets as agreed with the Board.
9. Lead and manage the key functions in the organisation.
10. Promote The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre amongst its partners, funders, and other relevant bodies.
The Director shall furthermore be responsible for:
1. Devising, developing, and implementing multi-disciplinary artistic programmes for the Centre within the agreed budget, in liaison with the Programming Manager.
2. Ensuring that the property known as The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre is maintained in a fit condition within approved budgets.
3. Ensuring proper insurance cover and licenses are up to date.
4. Complying with all employment legislation and regulations.
5. Complying with all relevant Health and Safety legislation.
6. Maintaining high ticket sales and revenue streams, and identifying new sources of funds.
7. Representing and promoting The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre locally, nationally, and internationally.
8. Developing appropriate short and long-term links with relevant organisations.
9. Working collaboratively with other cultural organisations, including the Arts Council of Ireland.
10. Developing innovative marketing and promotional strategies.
11. Expanding the audience database and driving ticket sales.
Required Attributes and Skills:
The role of Director of The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre requires the following attributes and skills:
1. Strong understanding and experience of the traditional arts and folk music landscape at a strategic leadership level.
2. Strong leadership, people management, and motivational skills.
3. Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing, and networking skills.
4. The ability to develop sustainable relationships at senior levels in key stakeholder organisations.
5. Strong commercial acumen and sound business judgement.
6. Ability to lead and manage people in diverse disciplines.
